I love photographing weddings.
Weddings are exhilarating and challenging, and since I love taking pictures of people, nothing can match the fun of having 30 to 300 people to photograph, especially the beautiful bride.
There are so few occasions in life that bring together the most important people to you–and all at the same time! Every single couple is different, so should their wedding and story be. I love hearing about the unique ideas and hopes brides & grooms have for their wedding day. Some people are very private and prefer to celebrate quietly. Others live life loud and large and their wedding reflects that energy.
I think it important to understand who each couple is, who they are individually as well as who they are to each other. And then I find a way to tell the story of not only the wedding day, but the deeper story of who the bride and groom are to each other and about the promise they are making to one another. Finding the sub-text of their gestures, the non-verbal hints of love. There is just so much behind those little moments–it’s such a gift to seek them out and catch a glance that only they shared.
I understand that a wedding is not a photo shoot.
I have to balance the need for unobtrusive photography with the need to get the photos from the couple's "wish list" of pictures. Somehow, I seem to have the knack of going unseen as I take your candid photos. And I am easygoing and patient when I take the formals.
So begins my work–searching out the images which you, the bride & groom, will cherish, your friends will love, and your family will clamor for.
